Port Samana: On the Road to Its Grand Opening
Strengthening Its Commitment to the Region

At ITM Group, we are getting closer to bringing a project to life that aims to create new opportunities for Samana and strengthen its position as a tourism destination. Today, we welcomed representatives of the Dominican government and the Dominican Port Authority to Port Samana, where we shared construction progress ahead of our opening on November 24, marked by the arrival of the MSC Opera. 

During the tour, our CEO, Mauricio Hamui, presented the progress made across the facilities and shared our vision for the port’s future, as well as the opportunities it will create for the region. Meanwhile, our Vice President of Construction and Project Development, Emelyne Arrieta, provided further insight into the technical aspects and vision behind this initiative. Alicia Mateos, President of Fundacion Genera ITM, also joined the tour, reaffirming our commitment to the development of Samana communities and their participation in this new chapter. 

We were joined by Jose Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency; Eduardo Estrella, Minister of Public Works and Communications; Andres Lugo Risk, Director General of Public-Private Partnerships; Alejandro Campos, Executive Director of the Dominican Port Authority; Julia Luz Marina Muñiz Subervi, President of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Port Authority; Pedro Catrain, Senator for Samana; Teodora Mullix, Governor of Samana; Luis Felipe Fermín, Mayor of Arroyo Barril; and Carmen Williams and Cecilio García Javier, Representatives for Samana. 

A Vision That Goes Beyond the Port 

Port Samana represents a commitment to the region’s tourism and economic growth. Current projections estimate approximately 10,000 visitors by the end of 2026, with the goal of reaching one million visitors by 2030. 

Port Samana is part of a broader vision for regional development, in which connectivity, access routes, and tourism infrastructure are key to showcasing Samana’s attractions, fostering connections with local communities, and creating new opportunities through tourism growth. 

The Countdown Has Begun 

On November 24, the arrival of the MSC Opera will mark an important milestone for Port Samana and the beginning of a new chapter for the project. At ITM Group, we continue working to turn this vision into reality and contribute to the region’s development. 

Samana is ready to begin a new chapter. And we are ready to be part of it.
