A new milestone for ITM Group, driving the tourism, economic, and sustainable development of the Port of Cadiz.
Today, we celebrate another milestone in our international journey. Through our Spanish subsidiary, MDT Port Investments, S.L.U., we have been awarded the public tender for the construction and operation of the new cruise passenger terminal at Reina Sofía Wharf, within the Port of the Bay of Cadiz.
With a planned private investment of €20.8 million, our proposal received the highest score in the tender, earning 88.35 out of 100 points and becoming the highest-rated bid by the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz (APBC).
This achievement allows us to contribute to the future of a destination with extraordinary cultural, tourism, and community value. Through this project, we aim to strengthen Cadiz’s position as a leading cruise port while continuing to expand our presence in strategic destinations worldwide.
The initiative envisions transforming Reina Sofia Wharf into a tourism, commercial, and leisure destination open to the local community, where port activities will coexist with new gathering spaces, extensive green areas, and experiences designed for both visitors and residents to enjoy the city.
Sustainability at the Heart of the Project
Our proposal embraces a development model that places people, the environment, and destination competitiveness at its core. Key initiatives include shore power infrastructure at the berths, helping reduce vessel emissions and noise while ships are docked, alongside energy-efficiency measures, water conservation, and the creation of green spaces.
The development will be carried out in two phases, each spanning 18 months, across approximately 60,215 m² of land, with 400 linear meters of berthing space and 20,000 m² of water surface.
