March 31,2026 marks a historic day for ITM Group. During a working session, we took a decisive step toward the opening of Port Samana, a project that represents a commitment to sustainable development, institutional collaboration, and the region’s economic growth.

With the participation of the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, Minister David Collado, our CEO Mauricio Hamui, and our Corporate Vice President Mariana Perrilliat, we aligned efforts to ensure that every step toward the opening of this terminal is executed with clarity, coordination, and a long-term vision.
The event was also attended by Teodora Mullix Geraldino, Governor of the Province of Samana; Jose Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency; Jean Luis Rodriguez, Director of APORDOM; authorities from the public and private sectors; and the ITM Group team.

A shared vision
At ITM Group, we believe that great projects are built together. Port Samana is driven through a public-private partnership with key government institutions, including the Dominican Port Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Public Works, and local governments.
During this meeting, we shared the key pillars that will enable a successful operation from day one. Requests were also presented to accelerate construction progress and boost the destination.
Infrastructure, roads, and connectivity
To ensure the safety of passengers arriving at Port Samana, the installation of speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, and proper signage was requested to facilitate access for cruise passengers. This will benefit not only tourism but also the surrounding environment and community.
Joint projects for the development of Samana
We will invest in tourism infrastructure in Los Haitises and El Limon, enhancing the visitor experience beyond the port and stimulating the local economy. This includes signage, infrastructure maintenance, and accessible facilities.
In this regard, MIMARENA/ANP, MITUR, and the local municipality were asked to implement effective environmental regulations, permits and licensing processes, stream and drainage cleaning at Playa Anadel, and improvements to public beaches.

The Samana community
Port Samana is being developed with a clear focus on sustainability and community well-being, promoting the active inclusion of all local stakeholders. Achieving this requires the support of key institutions to implement essential programs in training, employment, and environmental management.
Our Corporate Vice President, Mariana Perrilliat, announced the construction of a Community Center in Sánchez that will benefit more than 5,000 families in the region. This center will focus on training, technical education, and entrepreneurship to foster community participation.

The beginning of a great story
During this meeting, we officially announced the opening of Port Samana on November 24, 2026.
This project is set to become a transformative force for the peninsula, creating more than 1,000 direct jobs and over 3,000 indirect jobs, driving economic growth and positioning Samana as one of the most important cruise destinations in the Caribbean.

As shared by Mariana Perrilliat, this progress is the result of coordinated, strategic work deeply committed to the region’s future.
In 2027, Port Samana will welcome the world’s largest cruise ship, Star of the Seas by Royal Caribbean, marking a historic milestone for the region.

Our projection for 2030 is to reach one million passengers. We are proud to share that scheduled arrivals are already secured, which will further drive the region’s comprehensive development.
Our Vision
At ITM Group, we understand that developing infrastructure also means building trust, integrating communities, and creating sustainable opportunities.

Port Samana reflects this vision: a project that connects economies, strengthens destinations, and generates shared value.

We continue moving forward, step by step, toward an opening that will mark not only a milestone for the industry, but also for the community that is part of this destination.
