ITM Group Expands to a New Continent

ITM Group Expands to a New Continent

We’ve arrived in Melilla!

We are filled with excitement and pride to announce a new chapter in ITM Group’s journey: the development of a world-class tourism infrastructure in Melilla, an intercultural autonomous city of Spain located on the northern coast of Africa.

This ambitious project marks our first development in Africa and represents a decisive step toward the internationalization of our operations.

As a multidisciplinary Mexican company and international leader in the development of tourism and port infrastructure —with operations in Mexico, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic— we reaffirm our commitment to promoting sustainable destinations, with strong local identity and top-level infrastructure.

A Strategic Collaboration for Melilla’s Future.

During the first week of July 2025, we were welcomed by the President of the Autonomous City, Juan Jose Imbroda, along with the President of the Port Authority, Manuel Angel Quevedo, and other institutional representatives. The delegation was led by our Executive Vice President, Mariana Perrilliat, and included several directors of the ITM Group team.

Throughout this official visit, a working plan was developed with various local government departments —including Culture, Museums, the Office of the Presidency— as well as with logistics and tourism operators. The shared goal: to launch a public-private collaboration that lays the foundation to position Melilla as an international cruise tourism destination.

The plan promotes the creation of a modern and connected port terminal, with the potential of positioning Melilla as a homeport in Mediterranean cruise routes.

On July 2nd 2025, the concession was approved, officially initiating the joint process between institutions and private sector players. On that occasion, Manuel Angel Quevedo called for unity and cooperation among public and private actors to bring this project to life.

At ITM Group, we believe every destination has its own soul — and our projects aim to reflect it. That’s why this new cruise terminal in Melilla will be more than just a point of arrival: it will be a living experience, deeply connected to the city’s cultural identity. Moreover, the terminal will serve as a gateway to attract new cruise lines, positioning Melilla as a strategic hub within Mediterranean routes.

The tourism complex will feature retail areas, themed gastronomy, immersive attractions, and open public spaces accessible to everyone.

Next Steps and International Outlook.

During the visit, it was confirmed that ITM Group will participate in key cruise industry events such as Seatrade Europe in Hamburg, where Melilla will be officially introduced as an emerging Mediterranean destination.

An active effort is already underway to build partnerships with cruise lines and international logistics operators, with the goal of securing the destination’s solid integration into the global tourism network.

Environmental Commitment and Responsible Tourism.

The Melilla project will integrate responsible environmental practices from the design phase, through our Puertos Circulares program. This initiative includes the elimination of single-use plastics, efficient waste management, clean technologies, and community-driven environmental education campaigns.

We will also implement training and civic participation programs to foster social inclusion and local economic development.

Melilla, a New Destination. ITM Group, the Same Vision.

Our arrival in Melilla is a clear expression of our purpose. We believe in the power of tourism to transform, connect, and enrich.

We are ready to collaborate with this unique city, to build together a world-class tourism infrastructure, and to continue developing destinations with soul, purpose, and global vision.
