As part of this year’s Seatrade Cruise Med, the 20th anniversary of the Seatrade Cruise Awards was celebrated, bringing together some of the most influential names and projects shaping the global cruise industry.
Held on September 16 at the prestigious Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, the awards ceremony celebrated excellence across the cruise sector, recognizing innovators, trailblazers, and visionaries who are contributing to the industry’s continued evolution.
For us, this year was especially meaningful as Port Cabo Rojo, our second project in the Dominican Republic, was named a finalist in the Port of the Year category, alongside Skjolden Port in Norway and Portsmouth International Port in the UK.
The category recognizes a port authority, port management company, or cruise terminal operator that has made significant improvements to its operational facilities and cruise tourism infrastructure over the past 12 months.
While we did not take home the award this year, being selected as a finalist among leading cruise destinations is a meaningful milestone for Port Cabo Rojo and everyone who has contributed to its development.
This recognition reflects the vision and leadership of Mauricio Hamui, CEO of ITM Group, as well as the dedication and collaboration of our strategic partners, cruise lines, authorities, and the entire Pedernales community.
As Port Cabo Rojo continues to advance, Pedernales continues to grow, and the Dominican Republic strengthens its position on the global cruise tourism map, reaching the finals of the Seatrade Cruise Awards marks an important moment in a journey built on collaboration and a shared vision for the future.
But above all, this recognition belongs to Pedernales and its people—a community that has welcomed us, supported us, and believed in this development from the very beginning.
It also belongs to the dedicated team behind the scenes, whose hard work, commitment, and passion make every milestone possible. From those working on the ground to those supporting the project behind the scenes, every contribution has played an essential role in bringing this vision to life.
Being a finalist is not the destination. It is another step forward.
For us, this journey has always been about more than awards or milestones. It is about creating opportunities, supporting the growth of Pedernales, and building something meaningful together.
The journey continues…and this is only the beginning.
