Port Cabo Rojo welcomes 2 simultaneous cruise ships for the first time

November 28, 2025, will be remembered as a historic date for the southern region of the Dominican Republic. For the first time, two cruise ships docked simultaneously at Port Cabo Rojo, reaffirming the momentum of the tourism development project that is transforming the south of the country.

This achievement represents far more than a successful port operation: it symbolizes a new stage of growth for Pedernales, the Enriquillo region, and the entire Dominican nation.

A Collective Achievement: National Vision and Confidence in ITM Group

This milestone is the result of an integrated vision led by the Government of the Dominican Republic. We extend our gratitude to President Luis Abinader for placing his trust in ITM Group to drive this strategic project, one destined to reshape the future of the country’s southern region.

ITM Group’s sustainable tourism model prioritizes shared prosperity, generating tangible benefits for thousands of Dominican families, expanding direct and indirect employment opportunities, and catalyzing economic momentum across the region.

A Historic Day: Two Ships, One Destination

Port Cabo Rojo proudly welcomed:

  • Brilliance of the Seas, Royal Caribbean – 2,518 passengers
  • AIDA Sol, AIDA Cruises – 2,161 passengers, visiting the destination for the first time

A total of 4,679 visitors arrived to discover the culture, gastronomy, beaches, and hospitality that define the Dominican people.

What seemed like a distant dream just a few years ago is now a powerful image: two cruise ships simultaneously opening their gangways toward Pedernales.
#ElSurEsLaVuelta is no longer an aspiration; it is a growing reality.

Genera ITM Foundation: Connecting Port Cabo Rojo With the Community of Pedernales and the Dominican South

The foundation has worked hand-in-hand with the local community to improve quality of life through emblematic programs such as the Cruise Port Certification, which to date has trained more than 10,000 Dominicans. It has also promoted the elimination of single-use plastics in the port and boosted the economy in Oviedo through the community-led lagoon tour.

The Genera ITM Foundation has established partnerships with local civil society organizations to advance sustainable tourism development, guided by a shared vision of economic prosperity, community wellbeing, and ocean protection.

Port Cabo Rojo: A Destination That Transforms Lives

Port Cabo Rojo was conceived not merely as a port, but as a comprehensive development platform. Every space, experience, and service has been created to strengthen the local economy, elevate the tourism offering, and showcase the cultural identity of Pedernales.

Its main attractions include:

Circus Plaza: The heart of entertainment at Port Cabo Rojo. Its vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by iconic mechanical rides:

  • The towering Ferris Wheel, offering panoramic views of the destination
  • The classic Carousel, captivating visitors of all ages

An ideal setting for creating memorable moments and enriching the cruise experience.

Pools, Lazy River, and Relaxation Areas: Spaces designed for comfort. The pools offer refreshment and fun, while the Lazy River provides a serene oasis surrounded by Caribbean landscapes.

Retail Areas: A meeting point between local artisans, producers, and entrepreneurs with thousands of visitors—directly boosting the area’s economy.

Baby Beach: One of Pedernales’ natural gems: turquoise waters, soft sand, and breathtaking scenery that stays with every visitor.

Dune Rally: An adventure that connects travelers with the history, nature, and majesty of the Dominican south. An authentic experience that has become one of the destination’s signature activities.

A Catalyst for Growth in Pedernales and Enriquillo

The simultaneous arrival of two cruise ships represents a direct boost to local development:

  • Creation of new jobs
  • Increased demand for local services and products
  • Growth opportunities for guides, transport providers, artisans, and entrepreneurs
  • Strengthening of the tourism value chain
  • Greater international visibility for the destination

This milestone reaffirms ITM Group’s commitment to sustainable, socially responsible development, deeply integrated with the community.

A Promising Future for the Dominican South

The progress of Port Cabo Rojo demonstrates what is possible when national vision, public-private collaboration, and mutual trust converge around a shared goal.

Today, we celebrate a historic milestone, but we also renew our commitment: to continue driving a destination that generates national pride, social wellbeing, and real opportunities for Pedernales and the Enriquillo region.

We thank the Dominican Republic for allowing us to be part of this great vision.
We thank President Luis Abinader for the confidence placed in ITM Group.
